I went and saw Theophilius London last night and Nick Waterhouse and The Tarots was one of the opening acts. I was blown away his voice was wonderful and his band was perfection. Theophilius's music is going in a different direction then what Im used to. I cant say I dont like its just different. Now that I live in San Francisco I plan on going to alot more shows. I took pictures and will post them once I get them developed. Another Jesse Boykins show was added in SF and Im going to that one too. So thrusday and friday will be two days in a row of beautiful music Im so excited for this week.

So I opened my email today to find quite a wonderful surprise..Jesse Boykins III is coming to San Francisco!!!! I will most definitely be there. The whole time I was running over to the bank to deposit money into my account I kept saying " this is not real life" but it is so real it leaves me at a loss for words.

Sadly I lost my camara the other night at a muni station but I will find a way to capture what is most definitely going to be an amazing night.

I made the move to San Francisco and its one of the best things I've ever done for myself. I have no bed right now and I just found a full time job today. I really had no plan moving out, I had my two months of rent and no job and I'm still just taking it day by day. Things are beautiful San Francisco is the place I've need to be for quite sometime. I feel at peace here and I think alot of it has to do with my thought process changing. Sometimes you just have to go not knowing what the outcome will be thats where greatest surprise are stored. Im excited to see how this chapter in my life unfold and I will do my best to keep you updated on my progress. I start working tomorrow so I am looking forward to meeting new friends, finding a bed and table for my room.

Keep your thoughts positive and believe you are capable of doing anything and everything. The doors you will be able to unlock will amaze you.

I've realized while thinking back on this year it has not been the greatest for me emotionally. I was spending alot of time trying to resist what is that Im suppost to do. Intution is a gift that we all have the voice or feeling that guides you along your path. Honestly today was the first day I realized I spent this past year doing everything I could to avoid listening to that voice. These past couple of months I started doing things differently. I finally was honest with myself and my parents with regards to me finishing school. I've realized at this point in my life I'm not focus enough to really appreciate the process of going to school. I told my dad and he said everyone has their own path to follow. Fear was what kept me going down the path I was on and I could not understand why I was so unhappy. Why I felt these constant feelings of defeat like no matter what I was doing it wasn't enough. It was once I started to strip the unneccesary away and doing things that make me happy. Spending more time by myself, writing, reflecting, not answering phone calls, interviewing other bloggers, investing in a camara, cutting my hair off, visiting friends, having friends visit, taking trips to san francisco, and breathing. I started to feel at peace I do realize this is something that I'm going to have to work at everyday. I have to stop avoiding having conversation where I put myself out there. Admiting this to you, the loves who read my blog what I've been going through is extremely hard. Nothing worth having is easy. Nothing at all and this is what this past year has taught me. Im excited to change and have new experiences. To start living for myself and creating a life that Im excited to share with others.

This new year brings alot of challenges that I'm very excited about. Im starting a new internship in San Francisco and moving there, I plan on taking more pictures, and finding a new job.

Maricia Josephs the blogger behind Musing of Krav is another lovely addition to what is easily become my favorite part of blogging my blogger interviews. I think its really important to reach out to indviduals I find that are inspiring and ask question to learn about their personal journeys. I have alot of respect for maricia she's going to school, interning, and running a blog. She does an amazing job of showing how hard she's working and how important it is to her to make sure that she follows through on achieving her goals. I hope you enjoy her interview and make sure to stop by her blog.

1. Hey doll let us know something's about you, where are you from? What keeps you inspired and moving forward in your life?

I'm a dreamer whose life goal is to bring each dream to reality by any means possible. I'm from New York, Queens to be exact (dances in seat). Love is what keeps me inspired and moving forward. Love is the root of all things in my life, so when I sit and think of the love I have for journalism, family and life itself it fuels everything that I do.

2. Where are you attending school and I see your interning too. What is it like having to juggle your time between school and interning?

I go to CAU in Atlanta and I intern with Atlanta Tastemaker magazine which is a fairly new publication. Juggling both can be stressful at times because I like to give my all to each. I always find myself going to a place in my mind where I just get in the zone and get everything done because this is what I want. Once you find that medium you'll understand how to manage your time and become organized. When you work in the real world there are no excuses.

3. Writing is a big part of how you express yourself through blog what are some other areas you find interest in?

I love photography,clothing and playing soccer. I take a million pictures a day of myself and so many other things and people. I don't showcase my photos often because I want to get better at it. I think photography is an amazing art form when its practiced the right way. As far as clothing, I love to go shopping. Funny thing is I'm not into fashion at all, I focus on style. Putting different colors and patterns together, great tailoring and cool jewelry. Soccer allows me to get out my stress and unused energy. Each of these interests bring me self fulfillment.

4. You showcase some work from different inspiring individuals throughout your blog from Basquiat, to solange knowles, and bloggers Mrs.riot and Dank&&Dapper just to name a few. Do you find that its important to connect with individuals your hope to gain knowledge from?

Its VERY important to connect with other bloggers, especially ones that inspire you. Whether its a simple email or an interview you can learn so much and even gain an opportunity from another person who expresses them self in a similar manner.

5. With how quickly time moves it can become frustrating when you feel as if your working towards achieving a goal or creating an idea and it does not seem to be come together quickly enough. How do you find your peace within going along the road to achieving your goals?

When that happens, I worry because I know that time waits for no one. I remember all the support I have from the individuals in my life and my strong faith in God. Everybody has a path in life to follow and we all have a purpose. Everything happens as it should and things are best not rushed. When I think and remember all of this, I find my peace.

6. What type of music do you loose yourself in?

Music is important to me, especially because I've found ways to connect my emotions to it. I love Hip Hop, R&B, soul, rock, techno, dub step, reggae and even country. As long as I can connect to it, I like it. When it comes to completely loosing myself I like to listen to beat tapes as opposed to a song with somebody rapping or singing over it. The different melodies that producers put together to make a cohesive sound relax

me.

7. Now that the craziness of Christmas is coming to an end. What are you looking forward to in the new year?

SO MUCH ! , I'm looking forward to finishing my sophomore year and becoming a junior, I'm looking forward to becoming a better writer and photographer, I'm looking forward to learning new things and meeting new people, Finishing my current internship and landing a summer one that I've been wanting forever ( crosses fingers) . . . I'm just looking forward to living life and growing as a human being. I'm excited experience what life has in store for me and what I have in store for myself !

8. Your blog's name has a story behind it would you mind telling us where that came from?

I get asked this question all the time. I love Kenny Kravitz. When I was much younger I was introduced to his music by my mom and from that day I've kept up with all his albums,collaborations and even his daughter Zoe. Kenny is loved by many including myself because of the simple fact the he is so unique, from his music to his style. Friends and family started calling me kravitz and I eventually shortened it to Krav. "Musings" are thoughts or reflections and that's what I wanted the blogs content to consist of,so that's how " Musings of Krav came to be.

9. What would be your advice on keeping positive energy in your life and staying on track to achieving your goals?

Indeed it is hard to stay positive all the time because life is . .you know life, but you can. My advice is to NEVER EVER give up and to listen to YOUR heart. Some people might not agree with your choices career wise, but so what? If you truly love and have the passion for something, you have to fight for it. It may be rough at times but knowing that one day you'll get there becomes enough to push you. Take chances, step out your comfort zone and never take no for an answer. Hard work doesn't go in vain.

Up in the wee hours of the morning looking at exotic dancer shoe website in hopes of stumbling across something that resembles these beauties. I've come across a few pairs that could find their way into my closet. Im going to get some rest before I make any final decisions. Ever since I sold those beautiful lucite wedges I thrifted a while back theres been a hole in my closet. Those had to be one of my best thrifting finds to date sadly my feet were to big and I just couldnt keep them. How amazing would these look with a pair of oversized mustard trousers and a chunky wool cardigan both of which I already have in my possession now all I need are the shoes.

I love how I come across beautiful goodies when I have extremely limited funding. Window thrifting today was kind of heart breaking I came across this beautiful leather minntonka hat that fit my head quite perfectly and complimented my outfit so well. Then my little eyes wandered over to the silk heels by none other than marc jacobs. I wanted to buy them just so I could have them to myself. I have to come to terms with the fact that I will never be a size 6. The fur I came across in the fabric store was unbelievable. I keep telling myself when I get my machine fixed Im going to make a fur coat. Those colorful shag fabrics might be fun to work with. Wandering around the mission has me getting excited for changes that are coming.

Yesterday I hoped on the bus and made my way over to my favorite savers. I find the selection at the san jose shop to be alot bigger than the in milpitas. Not to mention the prices are a bit cheaper which is always appreciated. I find it so funny that my cart is always overflowing when Im doing my rounds through a store. Once I get a chance to get to the fitting rooms I narrow my selections down there. I've been aftering a matching pant suit for a little while now so I went to the pajama section thinking maybe I could find an interesting matching set not this time around. I did leave with some goods though a pair of boots, two pairs of pants, a glass soda jar, and a cork board to hang my thread on. I'll get some pictures up of my finds in the next post.

I've given myself a little challenge for the month of december to take one picture a day and post it on the blog. . I've been hauled up in my room lately sleeping and watching gossip girl reruns so I thought this would be a great way to get me motivated. I've been kind of afraid of my camara its taking a little longer than I expected to figure out how to use it. So I just been avoiding taking pictures at all lately. December consist of 31 days hinus the title. I dont really have a plan for how this is going to work or what Im going to be taking pictures of so this should definitely be interesting. Blogger interviews has quickly become one of my favorite parts of blogging. I get so excited when I come across new blogs that inspire me or when I go back through my blog list and find new favorites. I've really been trying to figure out what took me so long to feature this next interviewie. Monique is the blogger behind Tipa Tipa a vintage fashion, food and film blog. I had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful lady when I went to new york during the summer. I love stopping by her blog to see what outfits she's putting together and the wonderful recipes she makes. I hope you enjoy her interview and make sure to checkout her blog when you get the chance.

Q: What makes or goes into creating you? How do you enjoy and spend your days?

A: I enjoy cycling around Brooklyn, eating locally grown food, supporting my local small bank and a variety of small businesses. As much as I enjoy carefully choosing what I put on my body. I am also careful with what I put inside. My husband and I receive our produce from nearby farms and volunteer at a food coop in order to have access to discounted organic produce. I enjoy good clean food and enjoy eating this food surrounded by our wonderful group of friends.

Q: You recently got married and have been quite open about allowing your readers into that very

intimate portion of your life. Is it important to you that your readers are kept up to date with the happenings in your life?

A: I got engaged while traveling in S. America. We took a walk down a country road in El Bolson, Argentina. Josh proposed and immediately after the ring went on my finger...there was a rainbow. Granted it had rained earlier that day, I felt like this was magical and worth sharing. At first I was hesitant to share but then I realized that people enjoy reading blogs because they're interested in the beauty in the lives of others. I'm really grateful for the joys that I've experienced and I'm happy to share it. My wedding was one of the most intense experiences of my life. I chose to share it five months after the experience because I wanted to completely digest the commitment I made. It was more important for me to settle into being Josh's wife then to satisfy my readers by immediately posting. I enjoy sharing bits of the everyday and bits of the sparkles.

Q: Is there special meaning behind the name of your blog?
A: I chose a Haitian proverb because I am Haitian American and grew up with my parents and grandmother speaking to me using old Haitian proverbs. If I tried to hurriedly finish a task or if I wanted to accomplish something too quickly I was often advised that bit by bit the little bird makes her nest...tipa tipa ti swazo fe nish li. We live in such fast times and the proverb is a reminder for me to remember to slow down and steadily I'll get to the person that I'd like to become.

Q: You are quite the avid thrifter where are some of your favorite shops to go to?

A: I enjoy shopping at Housing Works. There are many locations around NYC. They have great second hand and vintage clothing and furniture and shopping there helps to support the organization's mission as a healing community to people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. I trade clothing at both Beacon's Closet locations in Brooklyn. The Goodwill locations all around NYC are a great source for vintage and second hand treasures. Love Day in Astoria, Queens is one of my favorite vintage shops. I like to shop at vintage shops in smaller more quaint neighborhoods as I find the prices to be much more affordable.

Q: Natural hair is quite the challenge to maintain and yours looks beautiful. What made you decide to dread lock your hair and what type of products do you use to keep it healthy?

A: My hair has been natural for most of my life. I had it chemically straightened in middle school and then grew it out and had it natural all through high school. I straightened it again once, just for the prom and immediately grew it out. Ever since I was a freshmen in high school I wanted dread locks. I couldn't start growing locks until my freshmen year in university because my parents thought it would be too radical for the private school I was attending. They advised me to wait until university. I had locks that were quite different back then. They were much fatter than these locks and funkier. This is my toned down 30 year old version. I started these locks from a shaved head back in 2003. I can not recommend any products. I use little to no products in my hair. I get a hot oil treatment every six weeks and that seems to keep it moisturized. I also wear a satin scarf on my head every night as a buffer from the cotton pillows which steal all the moisture away. I am certainly no authority when it comes to hair.

Q: What type of music do you loose yourself in?

A: Old soul music preferably on vinyl gets me every time. Ottis Redding and Sam Cooke are amongst my favorites.

Q: Where are some places you have traveled to and where else would you like to see?

A: I have traveled to Jamaica, Belize, Haiti, Costa Rica, Brazil, Barbados, Chile, Colombia, Argentina, The Bahamas, Mexico, France and Holland. I also went on a Scandinavian cruise with my mother in which we sailed the Baltic and briefly stopped in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Russia. I'd like to go everywhere.

Q: At times its hard not to compare yourself to other people and this can become a hindrance to growth. What would be your advice to those that feel they're getting lost in the mix?

A: One's voice is very important. Its necessary to take a step or two back and ask oneself. Is this my voice? It's easy for one's voice to get muffled with all the noise and distraction but its important to listen to it and always make room for it because it's the voice that counts the most.

Q: Time passes by so quickly and the new year is almost here. Have you created any goals to help motivate you in the coming year?

A: I took part in 12 before 2012. In which one creates a list of 12 things they want to do before 2012. I like the idea of finishing up the things I've left undone before the year ends.

I came across Jessica Yatrofsky's photography last year when I was looking for images for my design class. Finding her work helped me see that my interest capturing the beauty of the male figure can be taken to an art form. I bought her book I heart Boy and I love how it shows men as these soft vunerable creatures. I was so excited to open my email today and see that she is working on a feature length film. I havent had a chance to see the first film she made so I definitely need to get around to doing that. I love everything about this put a group of men together and have this discuss the ideas of masculilitiy and femininity and how this applies to being a "man." So Im doing a semi closet clean out. I've been thrifting quite a bit lately and realizing I need to get rid of some things. I was thinking about selling my clothing to buffalo exchange but Im just going to cut out the middle man and do it myself. Im sad to let these beauties go but Im working on being honest with myself and wearing shoes that are to small is just not realistic. I made a shop over at big cartel because trying to open a shop through my blog was kind of a fail. Me and my best love had to much fun acting foolish in the Lightworks photobooth. This is what friends are for I've know this girl since 6th grade and its madness how much we've been through its honestly sheer madness. She is one of those people I know no matter how much time has passed since we've talked. I can always call her and find myself laughing.That first picture is my favorite it represents are friendship perfectly.

These were from last night when we went to the "Art of The Suit" event at The MoAD. The event was not what I expected but once I got off my high horse I actually started to enjoy myself. Any night is made so much better when you have amazing company and delicious mexican food.

I have yet to do a post showing my lovelies some of the goodies the thrift gods have brought into my life. Imworking on making this a regular part of my blog since I thrift so often.

The Butterfly ruffle dress, dot fabric, Lucite wedges, and Nude Heels are from Savers. The wedges are nine west and they only cost me 10 dollars. I was too happy when I slipped these beauties on and they fit (kind of). There a bit snug and my toes are still crying from when I wore them out last night but they were to perfect to leave. The black and white dress my mom got for me at a thrift store in sacramento. Im still not sure how I feel about it I've been letting it hanging out in my closet until I figure out how Im going to wear it. Its not really my style theres something about the print that just is a bit off to me. Im always talking about getting out of my comfort zone so this will definitely help. The joudpers I found at community thrift in san francisco that place is one of my favorite spots to stop by whenever Im in the city. Those florals pants I found at salvation army these were a perfect find. I bought them on a day where everything was half off so they only cost me two dollars.

If you've been following my blog for a while you may remember Alee the blogger behind alee's perspective as my first blogger interview back in 2010. Her blog focuses fashion, hip hop and urban culture. With the new year approaching I was interested in seeing what had changed for alee and her plans for the future.

1. You were my first blogger interview and at the time you said you were fairly new to the blogging scene. Whats changed for you since then?

A lot! Album reviews are the most recent addition, but the funnest thing has been the interviews. I'm very selective in that process. Some of them you may have never heard of before- but these are the people who will one day dominate Hip Hop, fashion, and pop culture. If nothing else, my interviews give readers a glimpse into the future.

2. I have alot of respect for the way you express you opinion through your blog with out bashing individuals. How do you go about doing this so well?

I had to check myself a few times, go back and edit certain posts. Regardless of a blog's popularity, there still needs to be a sense of journalistic integrity. Even if you think no one will notice or care you should still watch what you say because once it's out there, it's out there.

3. You consently do a great job of keeping your blog update with post whether their about up and coming artist, new music videos, or your interviews with quite inspiring individuals. What would be your advice to anyone who's looking add more engaging content to their blog?

Incorporate things you love and are passionate about. For some people it's cooking or skating. For me it's music, fashion, and urban culture. Blogging should be fun! It should never feel like "aww damn, I have to publish something. Here we go again." Once it starts to feel like work, I stop. Sometimes I dont post for a week straight because I'm busy doing other things. Unless your career goal is to become a professional blogger, it shouldn't be taken too seriously.

4. We're in a very exciting time right now with the occupy wallstreet movement going on with people bringing to light issues with regulations regarding banks. I saw that you brought this up on your blog. How do you think this is going to change things for future generations?

This movement gave the younger generation clearance to stand up for what they believe in, rather than sitting at home yelling at the TV. That won't change anything. Getting out and voicing your opinion will, even if that means things get worse before they get better.

5. We're approaching the holiday season and in a couple months it will be a new year. Have you created any goals for yourself or do you have any exciting projects your looking forward?

The goal for 2012 is to keep my life balanced and progress in everything I do. Blog wise, I'll take a more hands on approach- especially with the interviews.Definitely some sit downs and one-on-ones with different artists. That will be fun! I'm very excited and looking forward to the new year.

I made pizza for dinner with with little brother and sister. Its was quite delicious next time all lay off using so much flour to to roll out the dough. I topped my little piece with bell pepper,spinch and used volka sauce it was lovely.

Its been a while but Im back with another lovely addition to the blogger interview archives. Ashley Baluyut is a vintage lover residing in southern california. Her blog MILK TEETHS follows her along on her thrifting and flea market adventures and documents her vintage asthetic. She also has a shop that houses some of her vintage finds along with a tumblr were she displays vintage goodies she comes across in her travels. 1. Hey Doll Tell us about yourself love. Where are you from? What helps you get through your days?

Hey! I'm Ashley. I live in Southern California. I'm a big history nerd and I love vintage clothing and other miscellaneous antique ephemera. I'd say the promise of sweet treats and cheese helps get me through most days of the week.

2. Are you currently attending school or are you happily experiencing freedom. What did you study?

I graduated last year. I studied Communication at UCLA with a Mass Media emphasis. Now i'm back at home, biding my time and focusing on some big projects to be launched next year.

3. You are quite the avid thrifter where are some of your favorite places to shop? Do you go out looking for specific items or do you let them find you?

Indeed I am! My favorite thrift store chain is St. Vincent de Paul but sadly, all of the ones in Orange County closed down this year. I pretty much shop at every big chain store and all of the independent shops local to me. I think a big mistake someone can make thrift shopping is having a specific item in mind that they absolutely must find at the thrift store. Chances are, they're not going to find it and they will probably end up frustrated at the experience. Going with no expectations and being surprised at the things you come across is the way to go.

4. I was reading on your blog that you interned at Refinery 29 in New York for a week what was that experience like?

It was pretty cool. I won a contest they held in partnership with Covergirl Cosmetics to find "The Next Big Style Blogger" so that's why I was there. It was definitely eye opening to see how the team works and all of the effort that goes into producing the content on the site. Getting to work with the Refinery crew was a blast and I'm so glad I got to help out for that week.

5. How do you juggle maintaining a blog, keeping your shop updated, and finding time to enjoy for yourself?

Thankfully, all of that stuff sort of blends into the "things I enjoy doing" category of my life. Shopping for the store is never a chore to me, it's always fun so that brings me enjoyment. Updating my blog and taking photos for it is a treat and if it ever did feel like a burden I would stop doing it. However, all of these pursuits can definitely get overwhelming at times so when that happens I just take a step back from the computer and regroup. Definitely no shame in taking a breather from the internet every once in a while!

6. Do you feel that having a blog has opened you up to opportunities that might have been missed without one?

Definitely. Having a blog let's people from all over see what you're about and every so often you might get an e-mail from someone who likes what you're up to and who wants to collaborate. I feel very lucky for any opportunities that might have been passed my way because of my little blog. It's all kind of strange and pretty great at the same time.

7. What are some of your favorite reads?

8. What are some projects your looking forward to completing in the future?

Definitely going to be amping up my store, threefeathersvintage, with more merchandise and maybe branching into adding a home goods department. I just launched Thrift Files which is a tumblr dedicated to all of the pretty things I find thrifting/ at the flea market but don't end up buying. I'm excited to see how that project will grow. I also have a few top secrets things that I'm working on for the future so for now, mums the word!

If anyones in San Francisco or around the area thrusday night you should come out to the Museum of African Disapora. There starting up a new night life event and their premier exibit is the Art of the Suit. Should be quite a fun event the tickets are 30 dollars Im sure they'll go up the night of the event.

I had no idea just how indepth dandyism goes its far beyond being a well dressed man its a lifestyle and their are even laws that control how these individuals behave. I've been thinking about getting all dressed up for the event in a suit. We'll see how that goes.

His style was freedom and peace everything I so badly wanted to be at the point in my life. I have alot of respect for him in going out and creating especially going with going to school at virginia state. It was though if you were different you were constantly questioned and stared at. That was the first time I'd ever heard myself described so succinctly. For the rest of the night I kept thinking, I just want him to show me things. I just want him to show me everything...

But the timing was off.

For weeks and months we would try to get together. I think about all the questions I wanted to ask him. The advice I wanted him to give me. But when the time came it was either too late, or not appropriate, or the movie was starting, or I'd honestly just forgotten.

I wanted to look nice for him. Something would always go wrong there too. I remember putting on my favorite dress. It was cold so I decided to grab stockings. These look nice, I thought. When I put them on they were ripped. Totally ripped.

He started to fade away. I could feel it. They say it's better to burn out than to fade away. I wanted reassurance. I wanted him to say, "Baby, I'll be gone for awhile. Don't worry. I'm still here. Wait for me."

I guess... just because you "get" someone. Doesn't mean you know what to do with them.

Hand made beauty is what these are. I came across this wonderful little shop amerrymishap when I was checking my etsy today. All of these pieces are handmade including the beads which are crafted from clay. These pieces are quite affordable too I havent seen anything thats over twenty five dollars. You should definitely pop over to her shop when you get a chance.

The creativity individuals possess will always amaze me. I've been working up the courage for to long to post up some of my the jewelry I've made over the last month. Its a slow process but coming across shops like this definitely helps to inspire me.

Yesterday I met up with Cleon of The Aveder Outfit we spent the afternoon wandering around the east village in search of reasonable price thrift stores. I really admire the work he does with showing a different way of capturing style not only with the individuals he features on his blog but also with the layout he designed himself.

This trip has really helped me see that its the long hours, hard work and lack of sleep that are really whats missing in my life right now. I have a lot of goals I would like to achieve but Im constantly making excuses that stop me from accomplishing anything.

I picked up a a maxi skirt which will be featured on the blog at some point. I didn't bring my camera cord with me on this trip so I'll be posting up the pictures from our day out when I get home.

My trip to New york hasnt been going exactly as planned and Im actually happy about that. I still have a few more days here.

I've been constantly talking about getting out of my comfort zone and meeting people. I find that Im unhappy in my surroundings because I tend to spend a lot of time alone. With my trip to new york I decided to use this as a chance to meet peoplet that I admire. I met up with Monique of Tipa Tipa and we spent the evening in brooklyn doing a little thrifting and eating amazing spanish food. I find myself getting caught up in the hype that seems to be stopping me from blogging. So it was quite refreshing to meet up with monique and talk about the how life can get in the way of updates. I also really have to work on seeing blogger as real people. I ran into kadeem today while I was wandering around the city and definitely was blogger struck. Its so easy for me to read some of these blogs and forget that they are people just like me with their lives that include problems they have to deal with.

So far my time in New york has been wonderful. The heat is a bit much but Im finding ways to get through it. Today Im going to visit F.I.T so that should be exciting.

I find myself getting more excited overing sharing with you all the inspiring individuals I encounter these days. Ariana the mind behind 55-th-street is the latest addition to my blogger interviews. This beautiful creative comes to us from the caribbean. I stumbled across her through rog walkers tumblr and saw she was recently featured in his identities spread. Her photography is quite break taking and I love reading the stories of her travels. Thank you again ariana for allowing me to share your work.

1. Tell us about yourself love. Where are you from? What have you decided is your purpose in this crazy thing called life?

I am originally from the Caribbean but have been a little all over the place in this crazy thing called life. I am still discovering my purpose, but it definitely has to do with speaking to people through what I can create, images.

2. Looking at your blog you seem to travel quite a bit..where have your wanderings recently taken you?

In summer is when I usually travel since I have a long vacation from school. Many thing that because I live in New York I must have a permanent source of inspiration, but actually my biggest inspiration has come from the places I have been to, even the smallest, dullest city has something or someone unique and inspiring which is my favorite type of inspiring, the unexpected one. I mostly spend my time all over Europe when I on vacation, where I once lived, and while writing this interview I am sitting on a grey coach somewhere in the middle of Hamburg, Germany.

3. Where you formally educated, if so what are you studying?

I actually study a bunch of things, I combined all my interests in passion into a big pile. My major is Communications and Advertising and my minors are Italian, German and Photography. However, most of what I have learned in photography has been through experience, experimentation and just having fun with it, the best learning recipe in my opinion.

4. You rarely feature your photography in color. What is it about black and white that capativates you?

My friends sometimes make fun of me since I normally wear morbid colors and that reflected also in my photography. I have a little confession, I love colors with a passion. I truly do. Even more, my favorite color is mustard yellow even though I do not own anything in that color (after 22 years still looking for that perfect yellow mustard piece). I rarely photograph in color, but I know exactly when I want to do it, when I am just so amazed by the palette of a subject I cannot disrespect it with shooting it in black and white. However, it rarely happens. There is something about black and white, it is my language. A teacher once told me that if you take a photo of a person in color you are taking a photo of their personality but if you take it in black and white you are taking a photo of their soul and I love photographing people, trying to take their whole essence into one single image, so I guess that explains it well.

5. What type of music gets you through your days?

I am a really musical person. I sleep with music, I wake up with music, get ready to music. I am quite eclectic so I listen to a little bit of everything, it only depends on what I am in the mood for. I like to get surprised by the content of my Itunes and always have it on shuffle. Nothing like listening to a song you had forgotten you even had it in a playlist. I am a huge Beatles fan, I love oldies, some Michael Jackson, 60's music, and every decade before and after. I also like jazz a lot, indie rock and sometimes even classical music.

6. Where do you pull inspiration from?

People in general. It is funny how most of my inspiration comes from the many anonymous faces I see everyday and they are fully unaware of it so a big thanks to the people of the world for inspiring me.

7. I love that you have stories behind all of your photography. Do you think this way of recording helps create more vivid photography?

For me, every image I take when I revisit it I think first of the story behind it and then of the image itself. I love talking to the people I decide to photograph, no matter their age or if they are homeless. That way, if for a couple of minutes if I am able to connect with the subject, it will come across in the photo, they will not longer be intimidated by the lens pointed at their face, for a brief moment they just look at me, not at the lens. They are so many art works that rely a lot on a title for them to make sense or to be understood. For me, I love sharing stories as much as I love photographing those same stories, so for me they are all connected.

8. I've noticed a few familair faces featured in the work through out your blog. Do you believe the people you surround yourself around have an impact on your work?

Definitely. I am lucky to have some truly unique friends who are willing to go along with my spontaneous crazy ideas. My dear victims/contributors. When I get an idea I know who I want to be a part of it. It is double inspiration, they inspire me and they are inspired with what I do with them. My friends come from all over the place, from every continent and that is a big part of me, of what I have learned and I want to celebrate that in my photos.

9. What would be some words you have for anyone trying to find their way in the world?

Once someone asked me that same thing and I just told him that we should try to explore, try to see things. Get out of your own little worlds. See a bigger world to make your own little world once again.

My mom came by to visit today and saw the sweater I was wearing and let me know my aunt made it. She has her own hand bag and accessory line nuela leather.

I was inspired by woodstock and the rog walker's identities spread. I went up to my old high school and took some pictures.

Another lovely fellow Im adding to my contiously growing list of blogger interviews. Zachary Gray is a thrift aficionado not only do he go out and shop for himself. He also runs a blog shop where he sells some of his vintage goodies. Seeing well dressed men definitely makes my heart sing so I was so excited I came across his blog. I hope you enjoy his interview and checkout his blog when you get the chance.

First off where are you from, are you attending a university of higher learning, any super powers your hiding from the masses?
I'm from Kansas City, Missouri. I attend Belmont University, studying Design Communications with an emphasis in Studio Art. I wouldn't call it a super power, but I'm also on the track team at school. You probably can't tell looking at pictures on my blog, but track is a big part of my life. I don't see too many athletes into fashion.

What was the purpose behind starting your blog? Has that changed as your style has evolved?
It started as mainly a style blog of me and my buddy Kevin. I thought it would be a great way to showcase style that was built on second-hand and used clothing, something that I hadn't really seen in a blog before. Since then it has transformed into highlighting other friends (women also) who have caught on and share the same vision, as well as creating an online store for vintage designer clothing. The purpose hasn't changed, just getting better at portraying it.

Do you feel their are restriction in menswear as to what is socially exceptable for men to wear?
I think people put restrictions on themselves. With style, I feel there should be no restrictions. You should wear what you want to wear. It's all just clothes right?

Where are some of your favorite places to thrift shop?
I have no real favorites, just normal chains like Salvation Army and Savers. There's good stuff everywhere.

Music is powerful who are some of your favorite artist?
Jedi Mind Tricks, Notorious B.I.G., Télépopmusik, Crystal Castles, Dâm-Funk, Amy Millan, LIGHTS, M83. I'm drawn to clever, lyrical rap and dreamy, sometimes girly (see: LIGHTS) electro. But I'm not ashamed. Angel Milk by Télépopmusik is probably my favorite album.

What are you plans for the future, how do you want to live your life?
I want to continue blogging and networking with people. I have new ideas everyday, I just need to put them into action. I'd like to expand The Second-hand Man into something greater, become an all-around designer, create my own brand, open a clothing store, maybe do some running after college if I'm good enough. Whatever I do I want to keep growing and do whatever it takes to get where I want to be.

Would you feel comfortable wearing a skirt?
Ha, never. I'm aware that some men do, but I'll leave that to the women. They pull it off a lot better.

Blogger Interview: Coral Garrett

I feel like the more inspiring individuals I come across in life the more confident I become in my own work. It takes alot to create and accept that no matter how much work you put in their will be people that dont accept it. Coral Garrett has gotten past that mental hold that can keep from growing. He's orginally from spain and now resides in the UK. He creates beautiful handbags made from leather and vintage miltary fabrics. You have such a beautiful name, Who named you and do you know if it has any significant meaning?
In fact is my second name, my mother is french and I think that was some kind of hippie inspiration. My first name is Oliver.

Do you feel that their are restrictions in menswear regard as to what is social acceptable for men to wear?
Sure, definetely, but I really think this is due to men themselves, i mean,

Guys wearing skirts and dresses do you think this is such a crazy idea?
Im not hte kind of skirt/dress man, I personally don´t like it but I respect it. I know some guys are doing it, most of them is just a new way to call attention on them but others are true trendsetters that are just doing whatthey want, they feel more free than ever and the really find a principle behind the simple fact of wearing dresses. I respect this spirit.

What types of materials do you enjoy working with?
Leather, canvas... you know... heavy dutty materials! And also vintage military fabrics, a couple of weeks every 6 months I drive my car accross France and Germany, looking for vintage fabrics, I really enjoy the idea of giving another chance to fabrics that already have more than 40-50 years and still alive... It´s a kind of romantic feeling against it, I mean, those fabrics have been in wars, have carried someone´s fears, dreams... It´s important to preserve pieces of history, and it definetely makes each bag made with vintage fabrics a special piece.

What inspires you to create?
My journeys, since i was a child I have enjoyed trying to be an adventurer, Im always trying to find something new to do... I have met interesteing people, I have visited amazing places, I´ve been lost in the middle of nowhere... I create stories to fill my bags.

Its incrediably easy to get discourged by the the words of others How do you stay confident and continue to push forward with your work?
I started working infashion industry several years ago, and I´ve been in some of the biggest fashion retailers out there... I don´t get easily discouraged by words... I just work on my stuff, if you don´t like it, that´s fine!

How do you enjoy spending your free time?
There is always something to do... this week was, yeah well, I was walking in the wood with a couple of friends and we just discovered a boat, a relaly huge boat, im not too much into boat or sailing stuff... but for the past 4 days we´ve been trying to take it out and bring it to a neighbours garage... It´s being really difficult.... A few weeks ago I spent a weekend in an Island near the Scotish coast, an Island as big as 5 trucks, getting there by canoe.

Oh yeah, and I just discovered golf some months ago... As here in the UK Golf is almost a national sport, is really cheap, and easy to play, you find courses everywhere. In Spain, where I was born, you have to be rich to play Golf... And well, I´ve been into skateboarding and tattooing...always.

Do you have any quotes or words that you live by?
Oh! That´s a good question, but no, I don´t... well maybe not words, but as a concept in life... I repeat everyday to myself... "life is easy" come on get out here and enjoy it... It puts a smile on my face everymorning.

My bestfriend called me early this morning and we had an amazing talk about how we cause are own downfalls. By allowing the circumstances in our live to consume and control us.

I've been doing alot of moping around since I finished the semester. I've had alot more time at home and I've been in the process of find another job. When things arent going well for me I tend to doubt my capabilites. Maybe Im not where I want to be at because Im not enough. To a certain extent this is true. I want to create my own menswear label but at the point Im at I dont have the skills to run a successful business. For me accepting what it is that are weakness in my life whether it be friends, family, jobs , or even my insecurities. I have to accept them as who I am for all the strong characteristic I possess I need those weak traits to keep me going.

I cant say it enough I talk to much about what I want to do and I get caught up in the hype of my own ideas. I trick myself into believe that things are happening because Im constantly talking about them. I have lots of projects I've started but never finished I find that my energy runs out before my idea has been fully completed.

Im a work in progress and I have to accept both the beauty and the ugly within me.

Dee Oyelola the blogger behind That Good Good Blog is a woman after my own heart. Her blog does an amazing job of featuring individuals who are making an impact in their communities. Not to mention her side bar is filled with unbelievable music ranging from Erykah Badu, Solange Knowles to Melo X and Mos Def. After you read her interview make sure to checkout her blog its really beyond words.

1. First off tells us some mind blowing things about yourself. Where are you from? Do you have any super powers?What do you see yourself doing for the rest of your life?

I wish I could make myself sound exciting! I am just your average college student, continually learning to embrace her passions and trying to discover my path in life. I was born in Nigeria and raised in the United States my entire life (currently residing inPennsylvania). Do I have any super powers? Nope. But I wish I had the power to read people's minds! I think that would make life so much easier. As far as what I see myself doing for the rest of my life, I can really see myself writing for some sort of magazine because I absolutely LOVE to write. My major is actually Food Science so, technically, I should be preparing my mind to write for some type of nutrition magazine. But if we lived in a perfect world, I would definitely love to write for some sort of fashion/art/music publication.

2. How do you keep your blog updated with such amazing people.brands.music. photography?

I always get asked this and I never know how to answer! Haha...I guess I just get really lucky. I never really have to look, I just kind of happen upon the different people and things that I blog about. My friends and sisters always let me know if they come across someone/something dope that they think I would like and some of my readers have even suggested things for me to talk about. I really love the fact that other people want to be a part of what I'm doing, it makes blogging so much more fun and rewarding. As far as my musical interests go, I am extremely picky about what I listen to and I tend to listen to "lesser known" artists. I can spend hours "music hunting" online, I absolutely love discovering amazing underground music.

3. What was the purpose behind starting your blog?

Initially, I didn't really have a purpose. I had always been into blogs and I liked the idea of having a place where I could talk about the things that I was into so if you combine that with the boredom I was experiencing at the time, that resulted in That GOOD GOOD Blog. After a couple months I started noticing the really positive feedback I was getting and I began interviewing people which is, by far, my favorite part of blogging. About 10 months have passed since I created my blog and I now realize the purpose behind it: to inspire my readers by showcasing ordinary individuals doing extraordinary things in the world of fashion, music, and art.

4. Your taste in music is exceptional. How did you hear about the artist you listen to?

Thank you! I find most of my music from hunting online and from my friends who share similar musical tastes to me. If you've some of my music posts, I love to rant about how poor the quality of music is nowadays. There aren't too many artists with the ability to create timeless music and you really have to search to find those artists because their music never gets played on the radio.

5. You have your a look through my lens feature on your blog is photography something your interested in pursuing?
I would absolutely LOVE to pursue photography! Not even professionally, I would just love to do it for fun. I am so inspired by the photographers I have been introduced to thanks to the series. If I have room on my schedule to take a photography course, I would do it in a heartbeat!

6. Do you have any quotes that help you get through your days?
I have so many quotes that I refer back to daily, I could go on for hours! There are so many great thinkers who inspire me: Henry David Thoreau, Maya Angelou, Lao Tzu, Langston Hughes, Toni Morrison, Dalai Lama...they all have such many amazing words of wisdom to offer to the world. A quote that I have been applying to my life recently is:

- "If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present." Lao Tzu

7. How do you stay positive in those moments where it feels as if everything is falling apart quickly.

I am a born-again Christian so I turn to God every time it feels like everything is falling apart. I actually experienced this feeling quite a lot within the past couple of years and I feel that it is the really tough times that we go through that cause us to mature and become more resilient versions of ourselves.

8. What does style mean to you?

To me, style is the most universal form of self expression. Everyone is so unique, born with their own personality, likes, dislikes, etc. I feel that all of this reflects in the way we dress and that is what makes the whole world of fashion & style so beautiful.

I cant even put into words how much I appreciate when people compliment my style. This was definitely one of those days where I was not feeling so hot and getting stopped for a blog photo really made my day.

I decided to wear the skirt I made out which was nice I got alot of compliments on it which made me feel great. Im always afraid to tell people when Im wearing stuff that I've made. School is almost out I have another week left. So this week Im going to be pulling all nighters cranking these projects out.

Jessica Yatrofsky is my new love her photography captures men as these vunerable creatures. Stripped down and fully exposed in such a beautiful way.

This is exactly why Im studying menswear I want to show a softer side of men to create clothing thats brings life and understand to those who wear it. At times I get scared that my ideas for menswear wont be accepted but Im quickly realizing that it doesn't matter. I cant expect everyone to agree with what I do and if I did get positive support from everyone I dont think I would be working as hard.

You can't expect someone to say thank you when you wait to hold a door open for them. You can never be sure if you'll get a response to that heart felt email you sent to someone you admire. Dont expect people to take the time out to sit down for a meal you spent hours cooking. Its really simple do things because you want to do them not because of some reward you think you'll recieve.

It hard for me to keep helping people when I feel like my actions go unappreciated. Im always the first person people go to when they need something because they know that all do everything I can to help. When Im in need there are very few people around. Im realizing this has a lot to do with the type of people I surround myself around. Im working on surrounding myself with individuals who are willing to come to me when they need help. But can also be there when Im in need. Take the time out to appreciate the people in your life and show them don't just tell them. Thats something that I definitely need to work on.
